Frances and Paul hosted guests from all parts of Australia, the UK and beyond. We playfully danced around unsuspecting rain sprinkles and toddler tantrums to have the most heartfelt wedding day. I shared an engagement story that involved tennis balls, a quad bike and a frantic phone call after their engagment.

Family is at the forefront of Frances and Pauls beings, they spoke from the heart and revelled in the little touches their family shared throughout the day, the highlight no doubt was Frances's brother playing the most strikingly beautiful version of I Giorni by Ludovico Einaudi on piano that left everyone with chills. Aden and Simon Music 4 piece band kicked home the celebrations with an incredible private last dance to an empty venue.

France and Paul are huge heavy rock fans and chose an instrumental version of Metallica’s ‘Nothing else matters’ to sign their marriage certicate, so I felt it was fitting to weave their love of metal in with their opening credits. check it out below.

“Trust I seek and I find in you

Every day for us something new

Open mind for a different view

And nothing else matters”

It need not matter that Melbourne was in the throes of an unprecedented locking down, tinder’s results were poorly received thus far and to top it off the weather was well typical Melbourne and resulted in Frances’ sailing lesson to be cancelled.

Yet, Frances and Paul remained open minded to the possibility of meeting that special someone amongst the increasing chaos. A strike of luck occurred that Paul moved into the magical 5 Kilometre radius, and with a little swipe, Frances and Paul were matched.

A date was promptly arranged in St Kilda.. Paul true to character arrived 15 minutes early...

Frances true to character arrived.. 15 minutes late..

This discrepancy in time allowed Paul to hustle to locate a new meeting point as the prearranged café was jam packed of Melbournians heading out for one last essential coffee. Frances recalls seeing a tall, dark, and handsome gentleman pacing the opposite side of the street quite frantically, but rather than make eye contact Frances continues down the street and they eventually meet and hug further down the street. Frances later admitting she was too cool to acknowledge spotting Paul initially.

Pauls first impression of Frances was that she was incredibly elegant, articulate, and thoughtful in her responses but.. mildly surprised Frances spoke with a British accent..

Frances and Paul continue around the corner to Fitzroy Street, grab a couple of seats outside a busy café on the verge of the stunning Albert Lake. An ice breaking moment presented itself in the form of the world’s worst photo of the modern century when Frances took the initiative to share a photo of the menu in an already heaving café. This left Frances and Paul both in hysterics and the conversation flowed forwards.

They couldn’t bare to leave each other’s side and decided a walk around Albert Park was the perfect opportunity to continue the conversation. Paul was feeling rather brave and at this point completely unaware of Frances aversion to public displays of affection, he extended out his hand, searching for some skin and they held hands for the entire walk bonding over their love for bad jokes, passion for spreadsheets, honest conversations, common values, and both sharing a similar outlook on life. Frances mentions Paul even had the AUDACITY to attempt a kiss… on their first date and all.

Deciding it was good luck to schedule dates just prior to lockdowns, Paul and Frances met for their second date just prior to Melbourne’s second lockdown. They were to meet at Half moon in Brighton prior to a movie date. Paul arrived 15 minutes early again.. This time Frances arrived… (ANY GUESSES) 30 minutes..late.

When it was time to collect their movie tickets, a slight problem arose, a problem that could have been easily rectified with a time travelling machine with the destination being yesterday. In somewhat of a repeat of date one, they scramble their plans, find a table, order some dessert and continue to bond over their love for heavy rock and metal music.

The night progressed with a walk on a crisp winters evening under a sky full of stars, it was on this walk that Frances came to the realisation that she had fallen for Paul.

For Paul he said that everything seemed right in the world despite Melbourne going into a lockdown the next day. This time it was DIFFERENT.

To each other they found that person that they couldn’t be apart from, for Frances and Paul the TRUST they had in each other outweighed the feeling that things might be moving too fast.

The lockdowns for Frances and Paul forced them to spend considerably more time together, to the point that they were spending most nights together, they were working from home together and until it became increasingly obvious that what they were SEEKING was each other and they made the decision to officially move in together.

Frances and Paul had found what they were looking for, and NOTHING… ELSE… MATTERS….

The first passage shared today was written by the poets Lars Ulrich and James Hetfield from a little known band called Metallic
