Intro

Modern Summer is wild at the moment hey? One weekend it's 42 degrees, the next you need a canoe to get to the ceremony.

Here's no surprise that the weather is unpredictable, check out the 5 points below to ensure you still have the best day of your life, no matter the weather.

Why you need multiple back up plans

It's important that with the help of your venue and me, we'll create a plan that allows for a change of ceremony space that you'll be pumped to get married in, even if it's not plan A.
Having a clear set of instructions will save on the stress in the week leading up to your wedding. We don't need to go overboard but it's important to have a conversation about what are the options should there be an incredible deluge of rain, it's 42 degrees, there are fires in the area or any other major weather phenomenon.

Call it early

I've heard the Wednesday before a Saturday referred to as "weather Wednesday" as it can generally give a reasonably accurate outlook as to what is going to happen on the weekend. If an outdoor ceremony or reception is just not looking on the cards, call it early, enact plan B or C, call your vendors and pivot ever so slightly without the stress of the will it/ won't it hanging over the wedding. Your guests and vendors will love you for keeping them out of the rain or heat (see below for more) and being able to set up with an adequate amount of time without being rushed, having to move or their product or service not quite being the desired result.

Guest comfort

As mentioned above, guests who are damp or have sunstroke are just not going to be in a prime partying mood and your dancefloor will suffer for it later in the night. Plenty of water regardless of the conditions, plenty of natural shade, market umbrellas or even fans if it is hot, consider a marquee if you're set on outdoors or even umbrellas if there is light drizzle. For colder conditions jackets or blankets may even be appropriate.

Flexibility

The weather person may give the A-OK for weather conditions on your wedding day and out of nowhere two clouds appear above the ceremony space and a sprinkling of rain. It may just be the case that the ceremony could be delayed slightly or paused, guests head under cover then proceedings continue after a short rain enforced break. If it's going to be hot, I think it's important to keep guests in shade or air conditioning for as long as possible. The ceremony time could be moved earlier or later to accommodate a cooler time in the day or even shorten the ceremony, sign the paperwork before or after the ceremony so guests can get out of the heat or even perform part of the ceremony during the reception. Being flexible and trusting your vendors will go a long way to helping the day run smoothly.

Control what you can control and just have FUN!

Above everything else, we can't control the weather so let's just stick to what you can control, smiling and enjoying time with your family and friends. They are your community and support network so rely on them and party accordingly
